The East Slope residence is part of the University of Sussex award winning campus. The East Slope residence are one of the newest students residences on campus and is a modern, spacious residence.
Arrivals can check in from 16:00 and need to check out on their last day at 10:00. There are areas around the building where we can store suitcases for you. Please remember to give you room key to a member of CES staff on leaving the building for the last time.
All of the rooms are organised into apartments with 6-8 rooms in each one. Nobody else can enter your apartment except other people who live there. Each one has large lounge and a kitchen, where you can meet with other students from your flat.
All rooms are single en-suite rooms and have a bed, desk and chair and a wardrobe.
There is a shower, sink and a toilet
Bed linen is provided but you should bring your own towels.
If you need a hairdryer you will need to bring one for yourself.
The East Slope is purpose-built for student life. It has an excellent range of facilities for students, meeting places and outside sports areas.
Wi-Fi is available everywhere
Laundry machines and rooms: washers and dryers are operated through an app which you can transfer money onto from a debit or credit card. A wash will cost approximately £5 and drying a little more
Co-op convenience store open 7 days per week 07.00-23.00
All meals are served or collected from one of the restaurant/canteens on Campus (3-4 minutes walk from the residence buildings)
Meal times are as follows and are subject to confirmation in May 2026:
Breakfast: 08.00 – 09:00 Monday to Sunday
Lunch: packed lunch (to be collect at breakfast)
Dinner: 17.45-19.00 Monday to Friday. Depending on your excursion programme, Saturday and Sunday may have packed dinners.
The East Slope Residences are part of the University of Sussex Campus in North East Brighton and Hove. The address is Falmer, Brighton BN1 9RJ.
From Monday to Friday, a CES organised coach will take you to and from the Worthing College campus. The morning bus leaves at 08.00-08.15 and the evening bus will leave Worthing College or Central Worthing at 17.00.
Public buses into Brighton: the number 25 bus runs from several bus stops close to the residence into central Brighton.
We strongly recommend that you download the app “UK Bus Checker” from the Google Play Store or the Apple store. This will show you live times of buses from the stop that you choose.
On Saturdays and Sundays, for your CES excursion programme you will either use coach transport or the railway. If you are using the train this will be from Falmer station at the South of the campus.
Evening social activities will take place on or close to the campus. An initial schedule will be published in early 2026.
If you cause any damage to the room or the property, we will expect you to pay for the damage before you leave
Make sure you keep your room locked and any money or valuables in a locked suitcase. Remember, the UK uses debit and credit cards for almost all purchases. You really don’t need to bring lots of cash with you.
We expect all students to be in their flats by 22:00 and in their own rooms by 22:30. We have a checking system in place and students breaking the curfew will face disciplinary action.
